Traditional paints, even so-called low-VOC paints, contain high levels of toxins and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and, although it isn’t widely known yet, these paints continue to off-gas dangerously for YEARS after they are first applied.
These poisonous VOCs are linked to cancer, leukemia, asthma, pulmonary issues, headaches and damaged immunity, particularly, but not only, in our young. And less dramatically, but still relevantly, thousands of days of productivity in Australia’s workplaces are lost every year as a direct result of paint odours and toxins.
This information put Premium Coatings on the hunt for an environmentally friendly, green paint solution. We needed to find toxic-free, VOC-free paint, which could perform to the same exacting standards as our painters and our customers required, without costing the earth. A tough call.
